Chiropractic Care
Chiropractors practice a form of health care that focuses on the relationships within the body’s structure, with a focus on the spine. Part of chiropractic philosophy involves a belief that issues within the body’s natural structure can cause problems with functions in other areas of your body, notably the nervous system. The spinal cord serves as the main structure of your nervous system by communicating information from the brain to the rest of the body.
McKenzie Method
Since the McKenzie Method was created in the 1960s, it has become a widespread approach to managing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal pain. Also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Robin McKenzie – the New Zealand physical therapist who developed this method – originally designed the McKenzie Method to empower patients to take control of their symptoms rather than be dependent on medications and other medical interventions for pain and symptom relief. At United Sports Chiropractic, Sports & Rehabilitation, we use the McKenzie Method to help our patients overcome back, neck and extremity pain, as well as any other pain of spinal origin. We do this by adopting McKenzie’s method of prescribing a series of personalized exercises based on the results of an initial physical therapy assessment. This assessment is unique to the McKenzie Method in that it uses a carefully calculated algorithm to classify spinal disorders based on a repetitious ‘cause and effect’ association between historical pain response and the pain reactions caused by various test movements and activities.
